WHO AM I? //

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

"Music... is a voice, my voice, it's my way of expressing what colours can I bring in, what emotions, what feel."

- St Jerome

I am a young Australian composer, graduated with a Bachelor of Music for film and media at the Conservatorium of Sydney. I am a former piano player turned composer and discovered my love for bringing characters, scenes, and worlds to life through the magic of music. I believe that instruments have the power

to express the emotions and ideas we struggle to verbalise.

MINIMALISTIC

I have a passion for composing orchestral music, specifically for film and games, however my musical journey has involved a diverse range of genres. Starting young in the field of composition, the first song I wrote was a birthday song for my father: a happy, boppy 4-chord song with a catchy melody - very easy and fun to play! This transitioned to an interest in electronic dance music and synth-based tracks. After reminding myself of my love for video games and film I began writing for string ensemble, which then turned into a virtual symphonic orchestra. Finally, as I was exposed to it much more at the Conservatorium, I developed an interest in jazz.

HOW DID I BECOME A COMPOSER? //

SHORT BIO AND HOW I GOT HERE

As a child I loved playing piano, especially by watching YouTube tutorials on my favourite songs, game tracks or film themes. Not long after this I wondered if I could also help others play their favourite songs that weren't available yet online. This led me to writing MIDI versions of many tracks I had loved, which played out on the program called Synthesia during the start of my YouTube channel, the first video being from the beloved video game Halo. Eventually, the sound of MIDI instruments grew old, and I moved on to replacing them with soundfonts using Synthfont. This is when the idea struck: "If I can write covers, why don't I write my own tracks?". FL Studio was introduced to me, and later I got a hold of East West's orchestral library, I accumulated other VSTs - fast forward to today and here I am!

WHAT DO I LOVE WRITING MOST? //

THE GENRES, STYLES, AND MOODS I LOVE

Writing for a string ensemble is my favourite thing to do. I think the strings capture all moods and styles, from gentle and romantic to grand and epic, to ominous and shrieking. This instrument family is what developed my love for writing huge orchestral scores as main titles, character motifs, and other themes. Being a life-long fan of John Williams also boosted my affection for over-the-top musical pieces. In fact my first orchestral score won 1st place in the ACMF Composition Competition in 2017 thanks to this inspiration! If I had to pick one category that I prefer it would be... epic - something fantastical.
